Dr. Ted Mason has spent his dental career providing key resources to help patients improve their oral health. For 22 years, he volunteered his service for school exams during Dental Health Month. Dr. Mason also offered 12 years of dental service to the Kansas Foundation of Dentistry for the handicap. In other words, Drs. Mason and Travis Gillespie consider oral health education a key component to determining the outcome of many patients’ oral hygiene standards.
This month is National Children’s Dental Health Month (NCDHM), and the 2014 slogan is “Join the Super Smile Team!”. To get children more interested in oral hygiene, the NCDHM campaign has gathered a fun, tooth-friendly team, including:
- McGrinn Twins
- Gen Smiley
- K-9 the Dog
The Smile Team is fighting for good oral health and super smiles! What are they fighting against? Of course, it’s tooth decay and plaque bacteria. To combat these tooth fiends, your child needs to follow a strict oral hygiene regiment, just like this one:
- Brush twice a day, two minutes each
- Floss daily, between each tooth
- Visit the dentist regularly
- Swap sugary drinks for water, milk or other healthy beverage
- Add more green vegetables (spinach, broccoli and celery) to your plate
A patient and dentist work as a team, just like the Super Smile Team! To gather more dental resources check out our website, masonandmasondentistry.com, and www.mouthhealthy.org.
